Below are some typical responses to the previous questions. Most fall into two categories: fears of failure and fears of success. These can be further broken down. Compare your responses to those listed. Identify in your notebook how you relate. If any of your reactions fall outside of all those listed, creating a fear-class all their own, then make a note of that in your journal. Also note if any of the responses listed resonate for you.
FEARS OF FAILURE
Fears of Non-Deservability
• “No one would be interested in what I have to say or do anyway.”
• “Anything that I would try on my own wouldn’t work.”
• “No matter what I do I always wind up screwing it up.”
• “I just have a difficult time feeling that I deserve anything good in my life.
